Mysterious village of Jaisalmer, from where thousands of people went missing in a single night – News18 Hindi

Chandra Van Goswami/ Jaisalmer:- On hearing the name of the state of Rajasthan, only big palaces, world famous palaces or forts come to mind. Perhaps that is why lakhs of domestic and foreign tourists come to visit this state every month. But in Kuldhara village, located at a distance of about 20 km from Jaisalmer city of Rajasthan, there is such a place, on hearing about which many people’s soul trembles.

Kuldhara was a prosperous city of Jaisalmer, which is today lying in ruins. Domestic and foreign tourists come to see it and try to know why such a beautiful city has remained deserted for many years. The history of Kuldhara is as old as the history of Jaisalmer.

The village became empty along with the chief.
Different information is available about Kuldhara. It is said that this village became empty overnight. The main reason for this is that the landlord Salim Singh used to collect interest from the common people wrongly and looked at their women and daughters with dirty eyes. The villagers protested for several days and he did not agree, so the village along with the chief was evacuated.

The people of the village were troubled because of the bandits.
Historian Nand Kishore Sharma told Local18 that Kuldhara village has a different story. There is a different reason for this village being vacant. Salim Singh definitely collected taxes and exploited the Paliwalas. Frustrated with this, Brahmin Paliwal united and planned to leave. When the terror of bandits increased, people left this village for their safety and prosperity. This is proof that Salim Singh is also definitely guilty of evacuating this city.

This village was full of culture and splendor
Nand Kishore Sharma says that there is no evidence of the Paliwalas leaving in the same night. Gradually, 25 to 30 thousand houses became vacant in 10 years. All the people living far away were facing difficulty in earning their livelihood, so they had to go to other states and set up their business. Today these ruins tell us that there was a time when there must have been prosperity and splendor of culture here.
